From the main entrance of Ponderosa State Park, head towards the park's visitor center. Continue straight along the main path for about 0.5 miles until you reach the junction. At the junction, take the path that leads toward the lakeshore, following the signs for Lumi's Cove. The path will wind along the shore and be approximately 1 mile long. Keep an eye out for markers that point towards Lumi's Cove. Upon reaching Lumi's Cove, you will find a peaceful area perfect for picnicking and enjoying the scenic views.

If you have a bike, you can make your journey to Lumi's Cove quicker. Start at the Ponderosa State Park bike rental station if you need to rent a bike. Head towards the main park road and cycle along the designated bike paths. Follow the signs towards the lakeshore, which will lead you directly to Lumi's Cove. The bike ride is roughly 1.5 miles and should take around 10–15 minutes. Make sure to wear a helmet and follow park regulations while biking.

If you are traveling by car, first enter Ponderosa State Park through the main entrance. Drive along the main park road until you reach the parking area near the visitor center. From there, the best way to reach Lumi's Cove is by parking and walking. Follow the pedestrian paths towards the lakeshore, which is approximately a 1 mile walk. Note that parking fees may apply, generally around $5 per vehicle for day use.
