Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from anywhere in Snake River Canyon and head towards US-12. Follow the signs for US-12 East. Continue on US-12 for approximately 30 miles. You will pass through the town of Kooskia. The Heart of the Monster is located at 4243 US-12, Kooskia, ID 83539. Look for the entrance to Nez Perce National Historic Park, which will be on your right. There are no tolls or fees for driving on US-12.

• Public Transportation

  If you are using public transportation, your best option is to take a bus to Kooskia from nearby towns. Check local transit schedules for the most current bus routes and times. Once you arrive in Kooskia, you can either walk to the park, which is approximately 1 mile from the bus stop, or arrange for a local taxi or rideshare service to take you directly to 4243 US-12, Kooskia, ID 83539. Be sure to confirm the cost of any taxi or rideshare services before your trip.

• Walking (from Kooskia)

  If you are already in the town of Kooskia, you can walk to the Heart of the Monster. Start from the center of Kooskia and head east on Main Street until you reach US-12. Turn left onto US-12 and continue walking for about 0.5 miles. The entrance to the park will be on your left at 4243 US-12. Ensure you wear comfortable shoes and be mindful of traffic as you walk along the road.
