Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, start from downtown Boise. Head east on W Idaho St toward S 5th St. Continue straight onto E 8th St. Turn left onto S Capitol Blvd. Continue on S Capitol Blvd for approximately 2 miles. Merge onto I-184 E toward Mountain Home. Take exit 2B for Broadway Ave. Turn right onto Broadway Ave, then continue straight for about 1.5 miles. Turn left onto Old Penitentiary Rd, and Eagle Rock Park will be on your right at 2150 Old Penitentiary Rd. Parking is available on-site.

• Public Transportation (Bus)

  For those using public transportation, take the ValleyRide bus route that services Boise. The closest bus stop is at the corner of Broadway Ave and E University Dr. From this stop, you may need to walk approximately 1.5 miles to reach the park. Alternatively, check for any available shuttle services that may operate toward Eagle Rock Park, especially during peak tourist seasons. Note that bus fares vary; expect to pay around $1.50 per ride.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer cycling, Boise has dedicated bike paths. Start from downtown and follow the Greenbelt path along the Boise River. From the Greenbelt, you can access Old Penitentiary Rd. It’s a scenic ride, but be prepared for a moderate uphill when approaching the park. Make sure to wear a helmet and check the local bike rental options if you do not have your own bike.

• Walking

  If you are staying nearby, walking is a lovely option. From the Boise River Greenbelt, follow the trails leading towards Old Penitentiary Rd. Depending on your starting point, it may take about 30-45 minutes to walk to the park. The area is generally safe, but be mindful of the traffic when crossing streets.
