    From downtown Boise, head to the nearest bus stop and catch the ValleyRide Bus Route 9, which travels towards the East End. Stay on the bus for approximately 20 minutes. Get off at the 'Old Penitentiary' stop, which is a short walk from the Idaho State History Center. Once you disembark, walk east on Old Penitentiary Road for about 0.3 miles until you reach 2205 Old Penitentiary Rd, where the History Center is located.

    If you prefer cycling, rent a bike from one of the local bike-sharing programs in downtown Boise. Head east on Front Street until you reach Capitol Boulevard. Turn left and continue north until you reach East State Street. Turn right on State Street, which will lead you towards the Old Penitentiary area.
