Public Transportation - Train
From Arlington Heights, head to the Arlington Heights Metra Station located at 45 W Northwest Hwy. Take the Metra Union Pacific Northwest Line train towards Chicago. After approximately a 40-minute ride, disembark at the Chicago Union Station. Once at Union Station, exit the station and walk to the nearby CTA Washington/Wells station. Take the Brown Line train towards Kimball and transfer at the Clark/Lake station to the Red Line train towards 95th/Dan Ryan. Get off at the State/Lake station. Exit the station and head east on Lake Street. Continue walking until you reach the Chicago Riverwalk at 22 Chicago Riverwalk.
Public Transportation - Bus
From Arlington Heights, walk to the nearest bus stop for the Pace Bus Route 696. Take the bus towards the Elk Grove Village Bus Terminal. At the Elk Grove Village Bus Terminal, transfer to the Pace Bus Route 600 heading towards the Rosemont CTA station. Once at Rosemont, take the Blue Line train towards Forest Park. At the Clark/Lake station, transfer to the Red Line train towards 95th/Dan Ryan. Get off at the State/Lake station. From there, walk east on Lake Street until you reach the Chicago Riverwalk at 22 Chicago Riverwalk.
Walking
If you are already in downtown Arlington Heights, you can walk to the Metra station at 45 W Northwest Hwy, then take the Metra train as described above. Alternatively, if you are staying in a nearby hotel, walk to the nearest bus stop for Pace and follow the bus route instructions. If you prefer walking, it is recommended to take a scenic route through local parks and residential areas until you reach the train or bus stations.
