Getting There

  • Public Transit

    From Arlington Heights, head to the Arlington Heights Metra Station located at 45 W Northwest Hwy. Take the Metra Union Pacific Northwest Line towards Chicago's Ogilvie Transportation Center. The journey takes approximately 45 minutes. Once you arrive at Ogilvie, exit the station and head to the adjacent Union Station. From Union Station, take the CTA 'Pink Line' train towards 18th and Damen. Get off at the 'Polk' station, which is about 5 stops away. Exit the station and walk east for about 10 minutes until you reach S Prairie Ave. The Glessner House will be on your left at 1800 S Prairie Ave.

    From Arlington Heights, take the Pace bus route 696 from the Arlington Heights Bus Terminal. The bus will take you to the Rosemont station. Transfer to the Pace bus route 606, and ride it until you reach the 'State & 18th' stop. From there, it’s about a 15-minute walk east on 18th Street. Turn left on S Prairie Ave, and you will find the Glessner House on your right at 1800 S Prairie Ave.

    If you prefer to walk, start at the Arlington Heights Metra Station. Walk south on S Arlington Heights Rd until you reach E Euclid Ave, then turn left. Continue walking until you reach the intersection with N Wilke Rd. Turn right, and follow Wilke Rd until you reach the intersection with E Golf Rd. Cross over to the other side and continue south on S Prairie Ave until you reach the Glessner House at 1800 S Prairie Ave. Please note that this route is approximately 8 miles and may take around 2-3 hours.
