Bus
From Arlington Heights, walk to the nearest bus stop on Northwest Highway (Route 14). Take the Pace Bus 696 towards the Harper College. Get off at the stop at the Arlington Park Train Station. From there, take the Metra Union Pacific Northwest Line train towards Chicago Union Station. After approximately 40 minutes, disembark at the Ogilvie Transportation Center. From Ogilvie, walk to the nearby Metra station and take the Metra Electric Line towards South Chicago. Get off at the Museum Campus/11th Street station. The Shedd Aquarium is a short walk from there, located at 1200 S Dusable Lk Shr Dr.
Train
Start at the Arlington Heights Metra station. Board the Metra Union Pacific Northwest Line train heading towards Chicago Union Station. The journey will take about 40 minutes. Once you arrive at the Chicago Union Station, transfer to the Metra Electric Line towards South Chicago. Get off at the Museum Campus/11th Street station. From there, it is a short walk to the Shedd Aquarium, located at 1200 S Dusable Lk Shr Dr.
Biking
If you prefer biking, rent a bike from one of the local bike rental shops in Arlington Heights. Start at the Arlington Heights Memorial Library and head south on Arlington Heights Road. Follow Arlington Heights Road until you reach the intersection with Northwest Highway. Turn right onto Northwest Highway and then take a left onto Lake Street. Continue straight until you reach the Des Plaines River Trail. Bike south along the trail, which leads to the Chicago lakefront bike path. Follow the bike path heading towards the Shedd Aquarium, which is located at 1200 S Dusable Lk Shr Dr.
Walking
If you are close to the Arlington Heights downtown area, you can walk to the Metra station. Once at the station, board the Metra Union Pacific Northwest Line train towards Chicago Union Station. After approximately 40 minutes, get off at the Chicago Union Station. From there, walk to the nearby Metra Electric Line station and take the train towards South Chicago. Get off at the Museum Campus/11th Street station. The Shedd Aquarium is only a short walk from there, at 1200 S Dusable Lk Shr Dr.
