Getting There

  • Public Transportation

    From Arlington Heights train station, take the Metra Union Pacific Northwest Line train towards Chicago. The journey to Chicago's Union Station will take approximately 40-45 minutes. Once you arrive at Union Station, exit the station and head to the 'L' train system. Take the Pink Line towards 54th/Cermak and switch at Polk station to the Orange Line towards Midway. Get off at the 35th/Archer station and transfer to the Green Line train towards Ashland. Finally, disembark at the Cottage Grove station. From there, it's a short 5-minute walk to Washington Park.

    Start at the Arlington Heights Memorial Library, located at 500 N Dunton Ave. Take the Pace Bus Route 696 towards the Elk Grove Transportation Center. Get off at the intersection of Dempster and Central. Walk to the Dempster Street bus stop and transfer to the Pace Bus Route 250 towards Chicago. After approximately 45 minutes, you will reach the stop near Washington Park. From there, it's just a short walk to the park entrance.

    If you're feeling adventurous, you can rent a bike from a local rental shop in Arlington Heights. Head south on Arlington Heights Road towards Campbell Street. Take a right on Campbell Street and continue until you reach the Des Plaines River Trail. Follow the trail south until you reach the Chicago city limits. Once in Chicago, follow the signs to Washington Park. The bike ride will take around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your pace.

    If you are already in Arlington Heights and prefer to walk, you can start from the Arlington Heights Village Hall at 33 S Arlington Heights Rd. Head south to E Campbell St and turn left. Continue down Campbell until you reach Arlington Heights Road. Cross the road and turn right onto S Arlington Heights Rd. Walk straight down for about 1.5 miles until you reach the Metra Station. From there, follow the directions for Public Transportation to reach Washington Park.
