Car
If you're traveling by car, head towards downtown Springfield, IL. From I-55, take the exit for Clear Lake Ave (Exit 92A) and merge onto Clear Lake Ave. Continue on Clear Lake Ave, then turn left onto 5th St. After a few blocks, turn right onto E Adams St. The Old State Capitol will be on your left at 526 E Adams St. There is metered street parking available around the site, which may require quarters or a parking app.
Public Transportation (Bus)
For those using public transportation, you can take the Sangamon Mass Transit District (SMTD) bus. Check the SMTD website for the route that serves your location. Most routes will have a stop near downtown Springfield. Once you get off at a stop near the Old State Capitol, walk east on Adams St for a few blocks until you reach 526 E Adams St. Be sure to check the bus schedule for the latest timings.
Walking
If you're already in downtown Springfield and prefer to walk, the Old State Capitol is easily accessible. From the Lincoln Home National Historic Site, head east on E 4th St, then turn left onto E Adams St. Continue walking for about 5 blocks, and the Old State Capitol will be on your left at 526 E Adams St. This is a pleasant walk that allows you to enjoy other historical sites along the way.
