To reach the Lewis and Clark (Camp River Dubois) State Historic Site by car, start by getting onto I-55 N from your current location in Central Illinois. Follow I-55 N and take exit 40B for I-70 W toward St. Louis. Continue on I-70 W for approximately 16 miles. Take exit 4A for IL-3 S toward Alton. Merge onto IL-3 S and continue for about 8 miles. Turn left onto Lewis and Clark Trail. The destination will be on your right. There is no parking fee at the site.

For those using public transportation, start by taking a Greyhound or Megabus service to St. Louis, MO. From St. Louis, you can take a local bus (MetroBus Route 2) to reach the Alton area. Once in Alton, you will need to use a taxi or rideshare service (like Uber or Lyft) to get to Lewis and Clark (Camp River Dubois) State Historic Site at 1 Lewis and Clark Trail, Hartford, IL 62048. Be sure to account for the taxi fare, which can vary but generally ranges from $15 to $30.
