The Serene Escape of Great Lawn in Millennium Park

Getting There

• Walking

  If you are currently in Millennium Park, the Great Lawn is easily accessible on foot. Begin at the Cloud Gate (often referred to as 'The Bean') and head south towards the large green space. As you walk, look for the large grassy area that opens up to the east. The Great Lawn is directly south of the Pritzker Pavilion, just past the fountain. This area is well marked, and you will see signs pointing towards the Great Lawn. The walk should take about 5 minutes depending on your pace.

• Biking

  If you prefer biking, you can rent a Divvy bike, which is Chicago's bike-sharing service. Locate a nearby Divvy station using the Divvy app or website. Once you have a bike, ride towards the south exit of Millennium Park. From the south exit, you can ride directly to the Great Lawn. Be mindful of pedestrians as you navigate through the park. Biking to the Great Lawn should take about 5-10 minutes. Note that a rental fee applies, typically around $3.50 for a single ride.

• Public Transport

  While Millennium Park is centrally located, if you find yourself further away, you may consider taking public transportation. The nearest 'L' train station is the State/Lake station (Brown, Green, Orange, Pink, and Purple lines). From there, exit the station and walk east towards Millennium Park. Follow signs for the park, which should take about 10 minutes. Alternatively, you can take a bus route that stops near the park. Check the CTA website for specific routes and schedules. A single ride on the 'L' or bus costs $2.50.
