If you are traveling by car, start by heading to the nearest major road in Corn Belt. From there, take IL-351 S towards Oglesby. After approximately 12 miles, merge onto I-39 S. Continue on I-39 S for about 4 miles, then take exit 54 for IL-178 S. Follow IL-178 S for about 3 miles until you reach Matthiessen State Park at 2500 IL-178, Oglesby, IL 61348. There is no entrance fee for the park, but be sure to check for any parking fees if applicable.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, you can take a local bus service or shuttle from downtown Corn Belt to the nearest train station, which is in LaSalle, IL. From LaSalle, board an Amtrak train heading south towards Chicago. Get off at the Oglesby station. From the station, you can either call a local taxi service or use a rideshare app to get to Matthiessen State Park, which is approximately 5 miles away. Taxi or rideshare fares may vary, so it’s advisable to check the app for estimates.
