Ferne Clyffe State Park is easily accessible from both I-57 and I-24. If traveling south on I-57, take exit 40 for Goreville. Turn left (east) and go 5 miles to IL Route 37. Turn right (south) and the park entrance is 1 mile south of Goreville. From I-24, take exit 7 for Goreville, turn west and go 2 miles to IL Route 37. Then, turn south to reach the park entrance. Parking is available in multiple lots throughout the park. Note that the park is known to close its gates during heavy snow and ice. Parking is free.

From Goreville, Ferne Clyffe State Park is accessible via the Goreville Boy Scout Trail, a 2.5-mile trail that connects the town to the park. The trail ends at the park's entrance. From there, visitors can access the park's various trails and attractions. Be aware that the trail is a steady uphill walk from the park end.
