Public Bus
To get to Lake Zurich from Elgin, you can take the Pace Bus Route 557. Start at the Elgin Transportation Center located at 100 W. Douglas Ave. Head to the bus stop on Douglas Ave. and board the bus heading towards the South. The bus will take you to the intersection of IL-59 and IL-72. From there, transfer to the Route 554 bus heading towards Lake Zurich. The total travel time is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. Be sure to check the bus schedule in advance to plan your trip.

If you prefer biking, you can reach Lake Zurich by following the bike trails. Start from downtown Elgin and head west on the Fox River Trail. Continue along the trail until you reach the intersection with IL-31. Turn left onto IL-31 and follow it north. After around 8 miles, turn right onto IL-22 and continue until you reach Lake Zurich. The total distance is approximately 12 miles, and it will take about 1 hour and 30 minutes depending on your cycling speed.

Walking to Lake Zurich from Elgin is quite a long journey, but it can be done if you are up for the challenge. Begin at the Elgin City Hall at 150 Dexter Ct. Head west on Dexter Ct., then turn right onto N. State St. Continue until you reach the Fox River Trail and follow the trail north. After about 10 miles, you will reach the intersection with IL-22. Follow IL-22 west until you arrive in Lake Zurich. This walk will take approximately 3 to 4 hours, so ensure you have plenty of water and snacks.
