The Thompson Mill Covered Bridge is located a few miles northeast of Cowden, Illinois. From Cowden, head east on E 225 N Rd. The bridge will be on your right. There is a small, rustic parking area available. Note that the bridge is closed to vehicular traffic. Parking is free.

If you are already in the immediate vicinity of the bridge (within a mile or two), walking is a pleasant option. Be aware that the area is rural, so sidewalks or dedicated walking paths may be limited. Follow E 225 N Rd, taking caution on the roadway. The bridge will become visible as you approach the Kaskaskia River.
