To reach Greenbelt Forest Preserve from Illinois Beach State Park by car, start by exiting the park onto IL-131 S (Green Bay Road). Drive south for approximately 5 miles. When you reach the intersection with W 14th St, continue straight. Greenbelt Forest Preserve will be on your right at 1110 S Green Bay Rd, North Chicago, IL 60035. There is free parking available at the preserve.

Public Transportation
To get to Greenbelt Forest Preserve using public transportation, first, take the Metra train from the Zion station (the closest station to Illinois Beach State Park) on the North Central Service line towards Chicago Union Station. Get off at the Waukegan station (approximately a 20-minute ride). From Waukegan, transfer to the Pace bus Route 565 towards North Chicago. Ride the bus for about 15-20 minutes, getting off at the nearest stop to Greenbelt Forest Preserve. Walk approximately 0.5 miles south along Green Bay Rd to reach the preserve. Note that the bus fare is approximately $2.00.
