To drive from Matthiessen State Park to Starved Rock State Park, exit Matthiessen State Park and head west on IL-178. Continue on IL-178 for about 1.5 miles until you reach the intersection with IL-71. Turn left onto IL-71 and follow it for approximately 4 miles. At the junction with IL-2, turn right to merge onto IL-2 N. Follow IL-2 N for about 3 miles, then turn left onto E 18th Rd. Continue straight for about 1 mile, and you will arrive at Starved Rock State Park on your right. Be aware that parking fees may apply at Starved Rock, typically around $10 for a daily pass.
