Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving from Chicago, take I-55 S from S Wacker Dr. Merge onto I-80 W and then take I-39 N. Continue on I-39 N. Take exit 23 for IL-78 N toward Lewistown. Follow IL-78 N for approximately 23 miles, then turn left onto Dickson Mounds Rd. The museum will be on your right at 10956 N Dickson Mounds Rd, Lewistown, IL 61542. Make sure to check for parking availability upon arrival.

  From Peoria, take I-74 W toward Galesburg. Exit onto US-150 W toward Lewistown. Continue on US-150 W for about 18 miles, then turn right onto IL-78 N. After a short distance, turn left onto Dickson Mounds Rd, and the museum will be on your right. Be aware that parking is available on-site.

• Public Transportation

  Take a Greyhound bus from Chicago to Peoria. From Peoria, you will need to rent a car or use a taxi service, as there is no direct public transportation to Dickson Mounds State Museum. The drive from Peoria to the museum is approximately 40 minutes. Ensure you check the bus schedule in advance for availability and pricing.
