4.3

Al Capone's Chicago Manor, located at 7244 S Prairie Ave, offers a glimpse into the life of one of America's most notorious gangsters. Capone, who ran a criminal empire in Chicago during the 1920s, lived in this two-flat building with his family. Built in 1905, the red-brick two-flat provided a home for Capone, his wife Mae, their son, and his mother and siblings. The building was purchased in 1923 for $5,500. The house has six bedrooms and two bathrooms. Capone and his family occupied the seven rooms on the first floor, while his brother Ralph's family occupied the eight rooms upstairs. Al personalized his residence with some special touches, including a seven-foot tub imported from Germany for the master bath. While the property is not open to the public for tours and is said to be in need of repair, its historical significance draws visitors interested in the darker chapters of American history. Visitors can observe the exterior and imagine the life of the infamous figure.
