Mini Zoo, Port Blair: A Compact Wildlife Encounter

Located in Haddo, Port Blair, the Mini Zoo offers a compact yet insightful look into the unique wildlife of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Established in 1967, the zoo was created to protect and display the region's endemic species. While some animals have been relocated to the Chidiyatapu Biological Park, the Mini Zoo still houses around 200 species of birds and animals, including the famous crocodile breeding farm. Visitors can spot the rare Andaman Pig and Andaman Gecko, among other indigenous species. The zoo is situated within the premises of the Forest Museum, making it convenient to explore both attractions in one visit. The Forest Museum itself provides educational displays about the forest industry and sells wooden artworks. Despite its name, allow at least 2.5 to 3 hours to fully experience the Mini Zoo. It's an ideal destination for families and children, offering an opportunity to learn about the diverse ecosystems of the Andaman Islands.
