Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving from Chennai, take the NH16 highway towards Kolkata and exit at the Thachur toll plaza. Continue along the state highway and follow the signs to Pulicat. The sanctuary is located about 60 km from Chennai, so expect a drive of approximately 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic. Once you reach Attakanitippa, follow local signs to Pulicat Bird Sanctuary.

• Bus

  To reach Pulicat Bird Sanctuary by bus, you can take a bus from Chennai to the town of Ponneri. Buses run frequently from Chennai Egmore and Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus. Once you reach Ponneri, you can hire a local taxi or auto-rickshaw to cover the remaining distance of about 20 km to the sanctuary.
