History of Andhra Pradesh

The Satavahana Dynasty, which ruled between the 1st century BCE and the 3rd century CE, is one of the earliest known dynasties in Andhra Pradesh. The Satavahanas played a crucial role in resisting the northward expansion of the Indo-Greek Kingdoms. They promoted trade and Buddhism, as evidenced by the Buddhist stupas at Amaravati and Nagarjunakonda.
The Vengi Chalukyas ruled the region from the 7th to the 12th century CE. This period saw significant advancements in architecture, literature, and the arts. The Chalukyas were instrumental in the construction of several temples, including the famous Pancharama Kshetras.
The Kakatiya Dynasty, which lasted from the 12th to the 14th century, is known for its architectural marvels and military prowess. The Thousand Pillar Temple and the Warangal Fort are enduring legacies of this era. The Kakatiyas were also known for their administrative innovations and irrigation projects.
