Road
The nearest airport to Nanda Devi National Park is Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun. From the airport, take a bus or taxi to Joshimath. From Rishikesh, the nearest railway station, one can go to Joshimath by car. From Joshimath, hire a car to Lata Village, about 25 km away, which is the starting point for the trek. Uttarakhand Transport Corporation (UTC) operates buses across Uttarakhand, connecting it with neighboring states. You can book a bus ticket online through the official website of UTC. Taxi/car from Dehradun to Joshimath: ₹5,000 - ₹7,000. Bus from Dehradun to Joshimath: ₹800 - ₹1,200.
Trekking
From Lata Village, the trek to the Nanda Devi National Park begins. The trek route involves a steep ascent at high altitude zones within a 13 km route from Lata to Dharansi Pass, the topmost point. Permits are mandatory for entry into Nanda Devi National Park, and trekking requires special permissions. Visit the Forest Department Office in Joshimath to obtain the necessary permits. Trekking Permit (Indians): ₹2,500 per group of five. Trekking Permit (Foreigners): ₹5,000 per group of five. Camping Fee: ₹100 per person per night.
