Namma Bengaluru Aquarium, also known as the Government Aquarium, offers a glimpse into the world of freshwater aquatic life. Established in 1983, this three-story, octagonal-shaped building is located at the entrance of Cubbon Park and is the second largest aquarium in India.
Inside, visitors can explore a diverse collection of both indigenous and exotic freshwater fish species. The aquarium has about 40–50 varieties of fishes, including angelfish, glowlight tetra, red-tail sharks, and more. The recent renovations introduced updated tank designs, interpretation panels, and a 75,000-liter marine tunnel, enhancing the visitor experience.
The aquarium is managed by the Karnataka State Government Department of Fisheries. The ground floor houses the office and a fish feed outlet. The first floor features 14 large tanks, while the second floor has two rows of smaller tanks.

Public Transport
The Government Aquarium is accessible via the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus network. Many buses stop near Cubbon Park, a short walk from the aquarium. Bus fares typically range from ₹5 to ₹30. Alternatively, the Cubbon Park Metro Station on the Purple Line is a short walk away. Metro fares range from ₹10 to ₹90 depending on the distance.
Walking
If you are already in Cubbon Park or near M.G. Road, the aquarium is easily accessible by foot. From Cubbon Park Metro Station, walk east towards the park entrance on Kasturba Road. The aquarium is located right at the entrance of Cubbon Park.

Taxis and ride-sharing services like Ola and Uber are readily available in Bengaluru. A short taxi ride within the city center typically costs between ₹50 and ₹200. Parking is available near the aquarium, with fees ranging from ₹50-60 for cars.
