Walking
If you are in Bhopal Railway Station, exit the station and head towards the main road. Walk straight for about 1.5 km until you reach the 'Bhopal- Habibganj Road' (NH 12). Turn left and continue walking for about 2 km, passing the Nehru Park and Bhopal Lake on your right. You will reach a junction; keep straight to follow the road into Shymala Hills. After approximately 1 km, look for the sign for 'Upper Lake' and follow the pathway leading down to the lake. You'll arrive at Bhopal Upper Lake, where you can enjoy the scenic views.

Auto-rickshaw
From the center of Bhopal, such as from the famous Rani Kamlapati Palace, take an auto-rickshaw and inform the driver to take you to 'Krishna Nagar, Shymala Hills.' The ride will take about 15-20 minutes depending on traffic. Once you arrive, ask the driver to drop you near 'Lake View Walk Path.' The Upper Lake will be a short walk from there, easily accessible by following the path down to the water.
