Budha Talab: Raipur's Serene Lakeside Retreat

Budha Talab, now officially known as Swami Vivekananda Sarovar, is a prominent historical and recreational landmark in the heart of Raipur. Translating to "Old Pond," it is one of the city's oldest water bodies, offering a tranquil escape from the urban bustle. The lake is named after Swami Vivekananda, a revered Indian philosopher, who is believed to have stayed nearby and swam in the lake during his visits to Raipur. A major attraction is the 37-foot-high bronze statue of Swami Vivekananda, which has been recognized by the Limca Book of Records as the largest model for a statue. The statue is particularly enchanting in the evening when it is illuminated, and its reflection shimmers on the water.
