Dolphin's Nose Lighthouse: A Beacon with a View

Dolphin's Nose Lighthouse, an iconic landmark in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India, sits atop a rocky promontory resembling a dolphin's snout. Rising 174 meters (571 feet) above sea level, it strategically guides ships into Visakhapatnam Port with a powerful beacon visible up to 65 km away. Originally built by the British in the 19th century, the current lighthouse dates back to the 1960s, replacing an older structure destroyed by a cyclone in 1876. Dolphin's Nose has played a pivotal role in Visakhapatnam's maritime history, witnessing naval battles and serving as a key defense point during World War II.
