The Ranchi Science Center, inaugurated in 2010, stands as a beacon of scientific learning and engagement in Jharkhand, India. Established by the National Council of Science Museums, it aims to cultivate interest in science and technology among people of all ages. Spanning 13 acres in the heart of Ranchi, the center features a science museum, a planetarium (Taramandal), and an open-air science park. The science museum is the main attraction, with interactive exhibits and live demonstrations covering physics, chemistry, biology, astronomy, and space science. Key exhibits include a Van de Graaff generator, a Foucault's pendulum, and a Tesla coil. The museum is divided into three thematic galleries: Fun Science, How Things Work, and Wealth of Jharkhand. Fun Science presents science with a fun theme to attract children, offering technical science experiments that need visitor participation to illustrate the logic and knowledge of the subject. How Things Work displays equipment used in daily life. The Wealth of Jharkhand displays the state's natural minerals and vegetation. The open-air science park features outdoor exhibits showcasing principles of mechanics, electricity, magnetism, and optics. The Taramandal planetarium uses a digital projector to simulate the night sky. Visitors can also explore life-sized structures depicting the evolution of dinosaurs. The center also has a 3D projection theater, a science auditorium, a children's corner, and a computer hall for students. Ranchi Science Center is located near Tagore Hill. It is a popular destination for science enthusiasts, students, and families.

    From Birsa Munda Airport, take a bus or auto-rickshaw towards the city center. Get off near Morabadi Ground. From there, the Science Center is a short auto-rickshaw ride away. Bus fare is approximately INR 20-30, and auto-rickshaw fare is around INR 50-70.

    Taxis and ride-sharing services like Uber are readily available in Ranchi. A taxi from Ranchi Railway Station to the Science Center will cost approximately INR 200-300, depending on the distance and time of day. The journey takes about 20-30 minutes.
