Getting There

• Walking

  Start your journey from MG Marg, the main market area in Gangtok. Head towards the north end of MG Marg and look for the road that leads to the Sikkim Legislative Assembly. Walk along this road until you reach the end of the assembly building. From there, continue straight onto the Jawaharlal Nehru Road. Keep walking on this road for approximately 1.5 kilometers. Along the way, you will pass several shops and local eateries, which can be a great opportunity to sample local cuisine. As you approach the Chandmari area, look for the Tathangchen area view point, which is located at the coordinates 27.3373064 latitude and 88.621996 longitude, marked by a distinctive viewpoint sign. The area offers stunning views of the surrounding landscapes.

• Public Transportation (Bus)

  Begin at MG Marg in Gangtok. Find the nearest local bus stop, which is usually bustling with activity. Look for a bus heading towards Chandmari or Tathangchen. The fare is quite affordable, typically around INR 10-20. Once you board the bus, inform the conductor that you are heading to Tathangchen area view. The journey should take about 15-20 minutes. Disembark at the Chandmari stop, and from there, you can follow the pedestrian path leading to the viewpoint. It is approximately a 10-minute walk from the bus stop to the viewpoint. Keep an eye out for directional signs along the way.
