Public Transport
From Srinagar Airport, take a pre-paid taxi or a bus to the Tourist Reception Center (TRC). From the TRC, you can find local transport or buses to Gulmarg. Buses are the most economical option. Once in Gulmarg, the Gondola base is about 1.5km from the market; you can walk or hire a local taxi. Bus fares are nominal. Taxi from Srinagar Airport to Gulmarg costs approximately INR 1500-2000.
Taxi
Hire a taxi directly from Srinagar Airport to Gulmarg. The journey takes approximately 1.5 hours. Taxis are readily available at the airport. From the Gulmarg market, you can take another taxi or walk to the Gondola base station. A taxi from Srinagar Airport to Gulmarg typically costs between INR 1500 to INR 2000. Local taxis in Gulmarg may charge INR 900-1500 for a trip around the town.
Gondola
The final ascent to Apharwat Peak is via the Gulmarg Gondola. Purchase tickets for Phase 1 (Gulmarg to Kongdoori) and Phase 2 (Kongdoori to Apharwat Peak). Board the Gondola at the base station. Phase 1 costs approximately INR 740 for a return pass. Phase 2 costs around INR 950 for a two-way ticket. Ensure you arrive before 2 PM to allow enough time to ascend to Phase 2.
