Deer Park, Hisar: A Wildlife Sanctuary

Deer Park in Hisar is a well-maintained sanctuary dedicated to the conservation and education of the public regarding local wildlife. Established in 1970-71, the park spans 48 acres, including a 6-acre plot dedicated to growing fodder for the animals. The park is home to several species of deer, including blackbuck, chital (spotted deer), and sambar. It also serves as a rescue center for injured wild animals and birds, which are treated and released back into the wild. Beyond deer, the park's surrounding forested area supports diverse wildlife such as the Bengal fox, golden jackal, Indian crested porcupine, various snake species, and black partridges. Historically, Asiatic lions were also sighted here, with the last recorded sighting in 1960. The Haryana Forest Department manages the park, aiming to promote conservation and raise awareness through education. The park is located on Hisar-Dhansu Road, approximately 6 km from the Hisar Bus Stand and 7 km from the Hisar Railway Station. Shatavar Vatika Herbal Park is also located nearby. Deer Park provides visitors with the opportunity to observe wildlife in a semi-natural habitat. The park's serene environment and walking paths make it an ideal spot for nature lovers, families, and those seeking a peaceful retreat.
