The Salar Jung Museum, located on the southern bank of the Musi River in Hyderabad, Telangana, is one of India's most significant national museums. Originally a private collection of the Salar Jung family, it was later endowed to the nation. Nawab Mir Yousuf Ali Khan, Salar Jung III, the former Prime Minister of the 7th Nizam of Hyderabad, spent a substantial part of his income over 35 years collecting artifacts from around the world.
The museum's collection includes Indian, Middle Eastern, European, and Far Eastern art. Highlights include the Veiled Rebecca, a marble sculpture by Giovanni Maria Benzoni, and a 19th-century British musical clock. The museum also houses jade-crafted daggers of Jahangir, Nur Jahan, and Shah Jahan, as well as weapons belonging to Aurangzeb and Tipu Sultan.
The museum is divided into three buildings: the Western Block, the Eastern Block, and the Indian Block, with 38 galleries across two floors. These galleries showcase a diverse range of artifacts, including miniature paintings, modern paintings, bronze sculptures, textiles, ivory carvings, and metalware. The Salar Jung Museum stands as a testament to the Salar Jung family's passion for art and their contribution to preserving global cultural heritage.

Cross the Chhatri Shivaji Bridge (also known as Salar Jung Pul) and continue onto Salar Jung Road. The museum will be on your right. The walk is approximately 1 km and should take around 15 minutes.
