For public transportation, take a local train to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CST) in Mumbai. From CST, use a taxi or an auto-rickshaw to reach the Gateway of India. At the Gateway, purchase your ferry tickets to Elephanta Island. The ferry ride will take about 1 hour. Ensure you check the ferry schedule, as they operate from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
