Car
If you are driving from Leh, take the Leh-Kargil Highway (NH 1D). After approximately 100 km, you will reach the town of Khalsi. Continue on NH 1D for another 65 km until you reach the town of Kargil. From Kargil, follow the signs towards the Shyok River road; this road leads to Turtuk. The distance from Kargil to Turtuk is about 80 km. Expect to spend around 4-5 hours on the road, depending on weather conditions and road conditions. Once you arrive in Turtuk, follow local signs or ask locals for directions to the Turtuk waterfall, which is located at RRPV+8F5, Tsangzer, Farol, Turtuk.
Public Transportation
From Leh, you can take a shared taxi or a bus to Kargil. Shared taxis are usually faster and can be found at the Leh taxi stand. The fare to Kargil is around INR 600-800. Once you reach Kargil, you need to find a shared taxi that goes towards Turtuk. Ensure the taxi goes through the Shyok River road. The fare from Kargil to Turtuk will be approximately INR 500-700 per person. Once in Turtuk, ask locals for directions to the waterfall at RRPV+8F5, Tsangzer, Farol, Turtuk.
Local Transport (within Turtuk)
Once you arrive in Turtuk, you may have to walk or hire a local vehicle to the waterfall. It is recommended to ask locals for the best route to the Turtuk waterfall, as it may not be well-marked. The walk can take around 30-45 minutes depending on your pace and the specific route taken.
