If you are traveling by car, you can start your journey from Aurangabad, which is approximately 100 km away from the Ajanta Caves. Take the NH52 highway from Aurangabad towards Jalna. After around 20 km, take a left onto the SH 26 road towards Ajanta. Continue on this road for about 70 km until you reach the Ajanta Caves. The caves are well-marked and you will find ample parking available near the site. Be prepared for an entrance fee of approximately INR 40 per person.
By Public Transportation
To reach Ajanta Caves using public transport, you can take a bus from Aurangabad to the nearby town of Fardapur. Buses frequently operate from the Aurangabad bus station to Fardapur, and the fare is around INR 50. From Fardapur, you will need to hire a local taxi or an auto-rickshaw to cover the remaining distance of about 14 km to the Ajanta Caves. The taxi fare may cost you around INR 300-400. Ensure you check the bus timings to coordinate your arrival at the caves.
By Train
If you're closer to a railway station, you can opt to take a train to Jalna or Aurangabad. From Aurangabad, follow the public transportation options mentioned above. If you arrive at Jalna, you will need to take a local bus or taxi to reach Ajanta Caves. The taxi fare from Jalna to Ajanta Caves is typically around INR 700-900. Make sure to check the train schedules in advance for smooth travel.
