Car

If you're traveling by car, head towards Mumbai. From there, take the Eastern Freeway, which connects to the Ferry Point at Gateway of India. Public Transportation - Train

To reach Elephanta Caves using public transport, take a local train to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CST) or Churchgate station in Mumbai. From CST, you can take a taxi or an auto-rickshaw to Gateway of India, which is about 3 km away. The train fare is very economical, typically costing between INR 10-40 depending on the distance and class. After arriving at Gateway of India, you will need to take a ferry to Elephanta Island.

Ferry

Ferries to Elephanta Caves depart from the Gateway of India. The ferry ride takes approximately 1 hour. Tickets can be purchased at the ticket counter near the ferry boarding area.
