Walking
From the main square in McLeod Ganj, head towards the temple complex of Tsuglagkhang. Once you reach the temple, continue straight along the main road (McLeod Ganj to Dharamkot Road) for about 1 kilometer. You will pass by a few local shops and cafes. After about 15-20 minutes of walking, you will see a sign for Dal Lake on your left. Follow the sign and take the left turn onto a narrow path that leads to the lake.

You can hire a local taxi from McLeod Ganj to Dal Lake. Simply ask any taxi driver or at your hotel for a ride. The distance is approximately 3 kilometers, and it should take about 10-15 minutes to reach Dal Lake. The fare will typically range from 200 to 300 INR, depending on your negotiation skills and time of day.

Public Bus
If you prefer public transportation, you can take a bus from the McLeod Ganj bus stand to Dharamkot. Buses run frequently and the fare is usually around 10-20 INR. Get off at Dharamkot and walk about 1 kilometer downhill towards Dal Lake. Follow the signs and local directions to reach the lake.

For the adventurous, consider renting a bicycle. There are several rental shops in McLeod Ganj. Rent a bike for around 300-500 INR for the day. Cycle towards Dharamkot, and from there, follow the signs to Dal Lake. The route is moderately steep but offers great views.
