If you're traveling by car, start from Shillong, which is about 56 kilometers away from Nongriat. Take the NH6 towards Jowai and continue straight until you reach the junction for the road leading to Cherrapunjee. Follow the signs to Cherrapunjee and once you reach the town, look for the signs towards Nongriat. After reaching the village of Tyrna, park your car at the designated parking area. From there, you'll need to hike down approximately 3 kilometers to reach the Double Decker Living Root Bridge. The hike involves descending several steps, so be prepared for a bit of a workout.
Public Transportation
To visit the Double Decker Living Root Bridge using public transportation, take a shared taxi or bus from Shillong to Cherrapunjee. The journey takes about 2 hours. Upon arrival in Cherrapunjee, look for local transportation options such as shared taxis headed towards Tyrna village. Once in Tyrna, you will need to walk down approximately 3 kilometers to the bridge. The path is well-marked, and you will encounter steps leading down to Nongriat. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes as the hike can be steep in some areas.
