Car
If you are traveling by car, head towards Cherrapunji (Sohra) from Shillong, which is about 54 kilometers away. Follow National Highway 6 (NH6) and then take Nohkalikai Road towards Cherrapunji. Upon reaching Cherrapunji, continue on Nohkalikai Road until you reach the location marked as 7M8G+XVV. Parking is available nearby, but please check for any local parking fees.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a shared taxi or bus from Shillong to Cherrapunji. Buses and shared taxis regularly depart from the Shillong bus station and should take about 2 to 3 hours. Once you reach Cherrapunji, you can hire a local taxi or a guide to take you directly to Rainbow Falls, which may cost you around ₹500 to ₹1000 depending on the distance and negotiation.
Trekking
If you are adventurous, you can trek to Rainbow Falls from Cherrapunji. The trek usually starts from a point near the Nohkalikai Falls and takes approximately 3 to 4 hours. The trail is moderately difficult and you should hire a local guide who knows the route for safety. A guide may charge you around ₹1000 for the trek. Make sure to wear proper trekking shoes and carry enough water.
