Take a local train on the Central Line heading towards Churchgate or any train that goes to the CSMT station. Once you arrive at CSMT, exit the station and head to the nearby Gateway of India. The Gateway of India is a prominent landmark located by the waterfront in Colaba. From the Gateway of India, board a ferry to Elephanta Island. Ferries operate regularly throughout the day, and the journey takes approximately 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive at Elephanta Island, follow the signs to the Elephanta Caves. The caves are about a 1.5 km walk from the ferry terminal.

You can take a BEST bus from various locations in Mumbai to reach the Gateway of India. For example, you can take a bus from CST (Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus) to Colaba. Once you reach Colaba, follow the signs to the Gateway of India. From there, purchase a ticket for the ferry to Elephanta Island. The ferry ride will take about 30-40 minutes. After disembarking at Elephanta Island, walk to the Elephanta Caves, which is a short hike from the ferry terminal.
