Getting There

• Walking from Mysore Palace

  Start your journey at Mysore Palace, a central and well-known landmark in Mysore. From the palace, head east on Sayyaji Rao Road, which will take you towards the bustling city center. After about 1.5 kilometers, you will reach the junction with Chamundi Hill Road. Turn left onto Chamundi Hill Road. Continue walking for approximately 3 kilometers; you will start to notice the incline as you approach the hills. The path is well-marked, and you will pass by several local shops and eateries along the way. As you ascend, the views of Mysore will become more scenic. Keep walking until you reach the large parking area near the top of the hill. The sunrise view point is just a short walk from the parking area; follow the signs or ask locals for directions.

• Public Bus

  You can take a local bus from various parts of Mysore. Head to the Mysore City Bus Stand and look for buses that go to Chamundi Hill. Buses typically have 'Chamundi Hill' displayed on their route signs. The bus ride will take about 30 minutes. Get off at the last stop, which is near the entrance to the hill. From there, you will need to walk approximately 1 kilometer up the hill. Follow the main road, which is usually busy with pedestrians making their way to the temple and view point. The sunrise view point is clearly marked, so just follow the signs once you reach the top.

• Auto Rickshaw

  For a quicker and more comfortable option, take an auto rickshaw from your location in Mysore directly to Chamundi Hills. Simply tell the driver 'Chamundi Hill' or 'Chamundi Hills sunrise view point.' The ride will take approximately 20-30 minutes depending on traffic. The driver will drop you off near the entrance of the hill where you can follow the signs to the view point. If you want to enjoy the sunrise, it’s advisable to leave early in the morning around 5 AM to ensure you reach on time for the best views.
