Getting there

Car

If you're driving to Chhamunda Dam, start your journey from Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha. Head south on National Highway 16 (NH16) towards Berhampur. After about 150 km, take the exit towards NH59 at Chatrapur. Continue on NH59 for approximately 20 km until you reach Chhamunda. The dam is located in Chhamunda village, which is well signposted. Make sure to follow local signage as you enter the village.

Public Transportation (Bus)

From Bhubaneswar, you can catch a bus to Berhampur from the Baramunda bus station. The journey takes around 3-4 hours, and buses run frequently. Once in Berhampur, you will need to take a local bus or auto-rickshaw to reach Chhamunda. Look for buses heading towards Chatrapur; ask the conductor to drop you off at Chhamunda village. This last leg of the journey is approximately 20 km.

Auto-Rickshaw

If you arrive in Berhampur and prefer a more direct route, you can hire an auto-rickshaw to take you to Chhamunda Dam. The cost for the ride should be negotiated beforehand, but expect to pay around INR 500-700 for a trip of about 20 km. Ensure to confirm the price and the availability of the vehicle before starting your journey.

Local Guidance

Once you arrive in Chhamunda village, you can ask locals for directions to the dam. They are usually very helpful and can guide you to the best viewing spots. Walking to the dam from the village is quite short, generally taking around 10-15 minutes.
