Getting There

  • Walking

    From the center of Pondicherry, head towards the main road, Rue de la Marine, and walk east until you reach the intersection with Rue Suffren. Turn right onto Rue Suffren and continue straight until you reach the intersection with the National Highway 45A. At this point, you can either take a local bus or continue walking. If you choose to walk, follow the National Highway 45A towards Ariyankuppam. The journey will take about 45 minutes on foot. If you prefer to take a bus, look for a bus heading towards Ariyankuppam, which should drop you off near the entrance to Arikamedu.

    From the central bus station in Pondicherry, look for buses heading towards Ariyankuppam. Buses are frequent, so you shouldn't have to wait long. Once on the bus, inform the conductor that you wish to get off at Arikamedu. The journey will take approximately 30 minutes. After getting off the bus, walk towards the archaeological site, which is a short distance away. Follow the signs or ask locals for directions if needed.
