If you are driving from Gangtok, take the NH10 towards Pelling. After about 120 km, take the right turn towards Yuksom. From Yuksom, follow the signs to the unnamed road leading to Kathok Lake. The last stretch is through a forested trail, which may require a good SUV or a vehicle with high ground clearance. Parking is available near the trailhead.

Public Transportation
From Gangtok, take a shared taxi or bus to Pelling. Once in Pelling, you can find shared taxis heading to Yuksom. The journey from Pelling to Yuksom is approximately 30 km. After reaching Yuksom, hire a local guide or a taxi to take you to the trailhead for Kathok Lake, as public transport does not reach directly to the lake. The cost for a taxi from Yuksom to the trailhead should be around ₹500-₹800.

Once you arrive at the trailhead from Yuksom, prepare for a trek to Kathok Lake. The trek is approximately 4 km and usually takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. Ensure to carry enough water, snacks, and essential trekking gear. The trail is well-marked but can be steep in some sections. Hiring a local guide is recommended for navigation and safety.
