The drive will take approximately 4 to 5 hours, covering around 120 kilometers. Once you reach Pelling, continue on the Pelling-Geyzing Road for about 10 kilometers until you reach Geyzing. From Geyzing, follow local signs to the Palace Ruins, which is approximately 2 kilometers from the main town center.
Public Transportation (Bus)
For those using public transportation, you can take a shared taxi or a bus from Gangtok to Geyzing. Shared taxis are available from the Sikkim National Transport (SNT) bus station in Gangtok. The fare is approximately ₹300-₹400 per person and the journey takes around 5 hours. Once you arrive in Geyzing, you can hire a local taxi to take you to the Palace Ruins, which is about 2 kilometers from the bus stand. Expect to pay around ₹100-₹150 for the local taxi ride.
Trekking
For adventurous travelers, trekking to the Palace Ruins is also an option. Start your trek from Pelling, which is a popular base for trekking in the region. The trek to Geyzing and then to the Palace Ruins could take a full day, depending on your pace. Ensure you have proper trekking gear, and it’s advisable to hire a local guide to navigate the trails. Costs for a guide can vary, typically between ₹1000-₹1500 for a day.
