Car
If you're driving from Chennai, take the NH45 towards Kanchipuram. Continue on NH48 and then take the exit towards Arakkonam. After Arakkonam, follow the signs to NH69 towards Vellore. From Vellore, take the NH 77 towards Dindigul and then NH 83 towards Melapuliyur. You will reach the vicinity of Mayil Ootru Waterfalls in approximately 4-5 hours, depending on traffic. Upon reaching Melapuliyur R.F.R[31]C, follow local signs or GPS to navigate to the waterfalls, which are located at 7P8H+JX7, Melapuliyur R.F.R[31]C, Ladapuram West.
Bus
To travel by bus, you can board a bus from Chennai to Vellore at the Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus (CMBT). The bus journey will take around 3-4 hours. Once you arrive in Vellore, you can take a local bus or hire an auto-rickshaw to reach Melapuliyur. Make sure to confirm with the driver that they know the route to Mayil Ootru Waterfalls. The local transport may cost you around ₹200-₹300.
Train
If you prefer to travel by train, you can take a train from Chennai to Vellore. Trains run frequently and the journey takes about 2-3 hours. Once you arrive at Vellore Railway Station, you can take a taxi or an auto-rickshaw to Melapuliyur. Confirm with the driver to take you to the waterfalls, which should take about 1 hour and cost around ₹300-₹500.
Local Transport
Once you reach Melapuliyur, you may need to take a local auto-rickshaw or a taxi to get to the waterfalls. It's advisable to negotiate a fare before starting your journey. The distance from the Melapuliyur town to the waterfalls is approximately 15 km, which should take about 30-40 minutes by auto-rickshaw and cost around ₹150-₹250.
