Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving from the Valley of Flowers National Park, head towards the town of Govindghat. From Govindghat, take the road towards Ghangaria, which is the base for trekking to the Valley of Flowers. The distance from Govindghat to Ghangaria is approximately 13 km, and the road is well-maintained. Once you reach Ghangaria, you can park your vehicle in the designated parking area. The trek to Shri Madmaheshwar Temple starts from Ghangaria and is approximately 20 km long, taking around 6-8 hours to complete. Make sure to carry sufficient water and snacks for the trek.

• Public Transportation

  From the Valley of Flowers National Park, you can take a local bus or shared taxi to Govindghat. Buses are available from the nearest bus stand, and they operate regularly. The fare is approximately INR 100-150 per person. After reaching Govindghat, proceed to Ghangaria either by foot or by hiring a mule, as the trek is the only option for reaching Ghangaria. The mule ride costs around INR 800-1000 and takes about 2-3 hours. From Ghangaria, start your trek to Shri Madmaheshwar Temple.

• Trekking

  Once you are at Ghangaria, follow the marked trekking paths towards Shri Madmaheshwar Temple. The trek is steep but offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Ensure you have proper trekking shoes and clothing as the weather can change rapidly. The trek will take approximately 6-8 hours, so start early in the morning to avoid trekking in the dark. Do not forget to carry a small backpack with essentials such as water, snacks, and a first aid kit.
