Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car from major cities in West India like Mumbai or Pune, you can take the NH 48 highway towards Agra. The distance from Mumbai to Agra is approximately 1,300 km, which will take around 22-24 hours of driving time without breaks. Ensure to stop at suitable rest areas for food and fuel along the way. Once you reach Agra, follow the signs to the Taj Mahal, located at Dharmapuri, Forest Colony, Tajganj. Parking is available near the entrance, but expect to pay a fee of around INR 100-200.

• Train

  For those preferring public transport, take a train from Mumbai or Pune to Agra. The closest railway station to the Taj Mahal is Agra Cantt. You can book tickets online via the Indian Railways website or at local railway stations. The train journey can take approximately 18-20 hours. Upon arrival at Agra Cantt, you can take an auto-rickshaw or taxi to the Taj Mahal, which is about 5 km away and should cost around INR 100-200.

• Bus

  Another option is to take a long-distance bus from major cities in West India to Agra. Several private bus operators run services to Agra, and you can book tickets online or at bus terminals. The journey can take anywhere from 20-25 hours depending on traffic and stops. Once you arrive at the Agra bus station, you can hire a taxi or auto-rickshaw to the Taj Mahal, which is approximately 6 km away, costing around INR 100-150.

• Flight

  If you prefer a quicker option, consider flying from Mumbai or Pune to Delhi. From Delhi, you can take a domestic flight to Agra or take a train or taxi that will take about 3-4 hours. If you fly into Agra, the airport is about 7 km from the Taj Mahal. Taxis are available at the airport for around INR 300-500 to reach the monument.
