Getting There

• Bus

  From downtown Bloomington, head to the Bloomington Transit Center located at 120 W 7th St. Board Bus #2 (Eastside) or Bus #3 (Westside). Both buses will take you to stops near the intersection of State Hwy 446. The closest bus stop is at the intersection of State Hwy 446 and E 3rd St. It may take about 30-40 minutes depending on traffic and waiting times. Once you get off the bus, you will need to walk approximately 1 mile south on State Hwy 446 to reach the entrance of Paynetown State Recreation Area at 4850 State Hwy 446.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer biking, you can rent a bicycle from one of the local rental shops in Bloomington. Start from downtown and take the B-Line Trail south until you reach the intersection of E 3rd St. Continue straight onto State Hwy 446. Follow State Hwy 446 for about 3 miles until you reach Paynetown State Recreation Area. The ride will take approximately 20-30 minutes, depending on your speed.

• Walking

  For those who enjoy walking, you can start from downtown Bloomington and follow E 3rd St east until you reach the intersection with State Hwy 446. From there, you'll walk south on State Hwy 446 for about 1.5 miles, which will take around 30-45 minutes. Be cautious as this route involves walking along the roadside.
