To reach the Indiana State Museum from Carmel, you can take the IndyGo bus service. Start by walking to the nearest bus stop on Main Street in Carmel. Board the Route 25 bus heading towards 'Downtown Indy'. This bus will take you directly into Indianapolis. Make sure to check the schedule as buses run at intervals. Once you arrive at the 'Washington St & Maryland St' stop in Downtown Indianapolis, disembark and walk west on Washington Street for about 5 minutes. The Indiana State Museum will be located on your left at 650 W Washington St.
Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, there are bike rental options available in Carmel. Rent a bike from a local bike share program and head south on the Monon Trail. Follow the Monon Trail until you reach the intersection with 16th Street. Continue east on 16th Street until you reach the intersection with Illinois Street. Turn south on Illinois Street and follow it until you reach Washington Street. Turn east on Washington Street, and the Indiana State Museum will be on your left at 650 W Washington St.
Walking
For those who enjoy walking, you can make your way to the Indiana State Museum by walking south from downtown Carmel. Head toward Main Street and follow it to the south until you reach the intersection with 116th Street. Cross over to the other side and continue south through the neighborhoods. This route is approximately 9 miles and will take around 2 to 2.5 hours. Once you reach Indianapolis, continue walking until you find Washington Street, then head west until you reach the museum at 650 W Washington St.
